Curtis Hardy was born in Senatobia, Mississippi, the 10 th child of 11 children who
grew up in Horn Lake, Mississippi. At Horn Lake High School he was a familiar
face in the community as a football player and a member of the track team. He
credits team sports as an important factor in developing his leadership skills and
team approach. These serve him well as he began his young adult life.
After graduating from Horn Lake, he began college at Jackson State University
blessed with a full football scholarship and became the first college graduate of his
family. Later graduating with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a Minor
in History. Curtis began his career in Jackson public schools, then in Morton and
Carthage, later in 2000, moving to Grenada, Mississippi where he was football
coach until his retired in 2013. After he retired, he has remained very active in both
his church and community. Many children riding the school bus in Grenada depend
upon “Coach” to get them to and from school safely.
Many in the community welcome his knock on their door as he delivers not only
food for seniors but takes a moment to visit, for many it may be the only person
they see in a day. Yes, Coach drives around a lot during the day, hot or cold, rain
or wind…many look forward to his
Curtis and his wife, Brenda Bridges Hardy made a decision to begin “Promise
House of Grenada” as a way to give back to their community. From youth needing
leadership to senior citizens who need a helping hand…the Hardy’s goal is to
“stand in the gap” in their community.
